I have one of these and also a more expensive Manfrotto.  I use the Nikon for spotting and chronograph.  Its light enough that you won't mind packing it and sturdy for its weight.

I have a very similar Nikon that i use and was in that price range. Been good to me for 3 seasons. It is stable , light enough and I see deer through my spotter while its mounted to it. The only thing I get frustrated with at times is the 3 support arms connecting to center , makes sitting and glassing a awkward dance at times. With that said, my buddy uses one without and his is half as steady as mine. FWIW I would rather take a second to get comfy than not be able to see through my spotter cause a light breeze has it trembling.

I use a Vortex  Summit SSP with my 65mm Swaro and have no complaints. Although next year I might try a new head.

I was looking at Slik legs & head, but couldn't find the ones I wanted to hook up without adapters. Also, their customer service isnt the best.
I just called camera land & explained what I wanted. I already have a tall heavy set up so wanted a super light, compact, but still sturdy set up.

This is what they recommend. I ordered it. Last night. I will report back when I try them out.

Was right around your budget for both and they said it would be plenty sturdy & smooth for my 65mm Razor.
